On Wednesday the 25th of April 2018, Professor Dan Segal (University of Oxford) will be visiting the University of Lincoln and giving a seminar **on groups of finite upper rank**, at 3pm in INB 3305. His abstract is as follows: “The upper rank of a group is the supremum of the Prüfer ranks of its finite quotient groups. The upper *p*-rank, for a prime *p*, is defined analogously, using the Sylow *p*-subgroups of finite quotients. I’ll discuss to what extent the upper rank of a finitely generated group is controlled by its upper *p*-ranks.” All are welcome.
