Travel directions from the main airports to Lincoln

For general information on train travel, see the website http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/. In case you have little experience with travelling by train in the UK, note that a single ticket usually costs almost the same as a return ticket (hence you better avoid buying two singles if you can buy a return). What you need is an Open Return (meaning that the return part of the ticket can be used within one month), which you can simply buy from a ticket counter at the station just before boarding the train. You can also buy online in advance if you prefer: this may come with occasional savings if you find some special deal, but it is usually valid only on a specific train, which is risky if you may be subject to delays; however, again in case of delays you may end up saving by buying last minute from the counter instead, as tickets are cheaper at off-peak times. (Efficiently buying train tickets in UK is not an easy science).

Note that there are generally no night trains. There are night coaches, not from Lincoln but from Nottingham (one-hour train journey from Lincoln). If you need one of those please consult http://www.nationalexpress.com/home.aspx.
