Professor Charles Leedham-Green

Professor Charles Leedham-Green is a member of our School’s Advisory Board. He graduated from Oxford University in 1963, where he also received his D.Phil. in Mathematics in 1966. He is a Professor of Pure Mathematics, Queen Mary, University of London, since 1997. His research is in algebra, specifically in group theory, where he published over 50 research articles and co-authored (with S. McKay) the definitive monograph “The Structure of Groups of Prime Power Order” (Oxford University Press, 2002). His recent research concerns computational aspects of group theory.

Professor Leedham-Green is also a well-known expert on Newton’s mathematics. He produced a new, richly annotated translation of the famous Newton’s magnum opus “Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy“, which was published by Cambridge University Press in 2021.
