The Society of Physics and Maths (in conjunction with the School of Maths & Physics) held a Movie Night on Halloween, in which we watched the 1979 classic, Alien. It was a big success; we had a great turnout and a very relaxed atmosphere, probably helped by the pizza and popcorn – most of which was finished by the end of the film! The members and committee had the chance to socialise before the film started, allowing people to get to know each other, and throughout the film people were comfortable enough to crack jokes and laugh with one another at some of the scenes. A number of new friendships were formed as a result!
The film itself was thoroughly enjoyed, and we were lucky to be able to use a projector so we could watch it on a larger screen. Once the movie had finished, a number of members expressed that they’d had a great time and would invite more friends to the next event. As a Committee, we were very happy with the night and hope to host more like it in the future, as providing the opportunity for people to relax after potentially stressful days is something we strive for in our social events.
